The How-To's  Bucket Garden

Two buckets stacked   on each other    Water in   the bottom oneP1060205.JPGText Box: Portable Food Garden  Food in a bucket with water reserve  in the bottom    Materials Needed:  (1)	3-gal plastic bucket - drill holes in bottom  (See photo below)  (1) 3-gal plastic bucket used as water reservoir with one small overflow hole drilled into side 2 inches from bottom of bucket  (1)  Styrofoam 8 oz. cup cut with slits in side to fit in center of bucket to wick water up into soil  (1) 13 inch plastic 1” dia. PVC pipe  to be used to add water to water reservoir.  Fill full of  1/3 peat moss 1/3 compost and 1/3 vermiculite  Plant, add water and watch it grow Then eat it! THE POTENTIAL???

The above close up photo was taken November 17, 2008. That's carrots growing in a bucket garden made with two parts homegrown compost, one part vermiculite and one part peat moss.  The carrots look ok for now.

Just think, if you can grow 50 carrots in a 3 gal bucket. Plant ten of them, that's 500 carrots.  Not a bad goal
